About the Azores
The Azores are located in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, approximately 1400 kilometres from Lisbon and 3900 kilometres from New York. All together, the 9 islands cover:

Sao Miguel is the largest and most populated island
Sao Miguel
São Miguel Island ; Portuguese for Saint Michael), nicknamed "The Green Island", is the largest and most populous of the Azores Islands archipelago. The island covers 759 km² (293 sq mi) and has around 140,000 inhabitants (called Micaelenses); the largest town is Ponta Delgada, with about 30,000 inhabitants.
